The 9 Best Programming Languages to Learn in 2020

The 9 Best Programming Languages to Learn in 2020

  • JavaScript
  • Java
  • Python
  • Elixir
  • Rust
  • Go
  • TypeScript
  • PHP
  • Ruby on Rails
  • C#
  • Swift

Python

Python is an object-orientated language that closely resembles the English language which makes it a great language to learn for beginners as well as seasoned professionals.

Examples sites that use Python are: Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, NASA, and Usersnap (who wrote about their Python experience here) \U0001f642

Python 3.6 was released in December 2016 with some awesome features.

Java

No list will be complete without Java. In the long run, it’s always a great choice and the stats suggest it’s not going away any time soon.

It’s used on 15 billion (that’s not a typo) devices and over 10 million developers use Java worldwide!

Learn Java if you are interested in creating Android apps, games, software and website content.

Example sites that use Java are Amazon, LinkedIn, and eBay.

JavaScript: No doubts here. An astounding 80% of programmers claim to love JavaScript, no matter their accomplishments in it. Designed in 10 days as a replacement to Java’s bloated coding to work with the browser, named “Java”Script to taunt Sun and now enjoying a well established status as a full stack language. It is so much more than just a “web-based language”.

SQL: This one’s easy too. Web pages, software applications, cloud services all thrive on the amount of data. You have a huge amount of data, running wild. How to tame it? Use SQL.
Java: I am not a fan of java. But cannot overlook its capabilities and its resolute nature. Designed by Sun, to work as a replacement to C/C++, it took the world by storm due to WORA(write once, run anywhere). Although, it has recently lost this capability on being bound to Android, it is still the most used language by beginners.

C#: The youngest language on this list. Don’t know much about it, but predominantly it is used to focus on building desktop applications in Windows environment. It will stay long until Microsoft decides to call it quits, and that might never happen.

Python: The language with the flattest learning curve on this list. Also, maybe the one with the cleanest code and least amount of development time. See for yourself on it’s documentation page. Developed in 1991, before Java and JavaScript, the main area of it’s usage involves in using it for Data Science. Truly intelligent systems, working heavily on concepts of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Data Mining are developed best in Python. It also enjoys a vast library support, ranging from graphical designing, human computer interaction, web development and natural language processing.
